Finding the Love of Your Life in a Documentary

Soulmates

Love; a small word but a very big topic. When our lives are overflowing with love we feel happy and fulfilled, but there is nothing worse than feeling unloved or disappointed in a relationship. We think we know what love is, but do we really?

I recently watched 2 movies that touched my heart and reminded me of how BIG love really is. Bigger than romance, sex, service, compassion, care, altruism or any other words we normally associate with the four realms of heart. LOVE is as big as life and beyond. It is our whole reason for being.

Who doesn’t like a love story?

How about a love documentary? You might not feel as excited about that, but I encourage you to have an open mind. The world is in need of a great deal of education about love, and sometimes we just need a new perspective. Both of the movies I mentioned are documentaries that stimulate the heart more than the mind.

Let me tell you about them:

Love Bomb – A Docudrama

In the early days of the Unification Movement we used to strive to practice this concept of “love bombing” a person. It means to serve or care for another with so much unconditional love that their heart melts. But both the “bomber” and the one who receives the “bomb” are transformed in the process.

Love Bomb movieThis story follows the transformational experience of  Rhea Zimmerman and two fellow chiropractors as they go on a service trip to Peru. For Rhea it is her second trip, having worked before with a medical clinic in The Sacred Valley. She hopes to share the meaningful experiences she had there before with her friends and fellow doctors, Austin and Alejandra. The three together have a goal to serve as many people as possible, and their mission is to offer more than physical healing. They believe in the spiritual power of unconditional love coming from their hearts through their hands in genuine service and connection.

Each morning they start with a meditation and affirmation practice that sets their intention for the day. Sometimes they treat patients at the clinic, but on many days they need to travel to small villages and schools throughout the hills and valleys of the area. The scenery is gorgeous, and it’s a full immersion cultural experience. They have struggles and face a variety of difficulties. Most of the people have never experienced this type of healing through chiropractic adjustment and many are profoundly impacted.

The movie is punctuated with commentary by leading thinkers such as Bruce Lipton and other scientists, doctors, authors and spiritual leaders. It will touch your soul and prompt your own thoughts of how you might act as a “love bomb” to bring healing and hope in this troubled world.

Secrets of Love

What is the secret to a lasting bond and fulfilling partnership? Everyone comes into a relationship carrying their own baggage. In our closest relationships that baggage gets exposed and causes conflict that blocks the flow of love. Many people struggle to commit or stay committed when they are faced with the feelings that interfere with the experience of meaningful love.

Secrets of Love movieExploring love in body, mind and soul through ancient wisdom teachings as well as contemporary spiritual teachers, authors and scholars, this documentary highlights the very same “logic of love” that Rev. and Mrs. Moon spoke about and lived by throughout their lives. What is love; how do we keep it alive; and how do we heal from heartbreak?

Celebrities Catherine Oxenberg and Casper Van Dien candidly share their story of attraction, betrayal and healing from sex addiction. Marriage, intimacy, soulmates, sacred sex, conflict, mistrust, misunderstanding, infidelity, forgiveness and healing are all part of the journey to discover absolute love within ourselves and in relationship with others. One of the key themes highlighted in this documentary is that the person we attract in an intimate relationship is the person who is meant to help us grow spiritually, but we have to be willing to self-reflect and seek a higher perspective.

John Gray and Greg Baer are among some of the noted teachers offering commentary. This documentary would serve well as marriage preparation material, but it also gives those already in long term relationships an opportunity to reexamine that bond and discover the potential to ignite the relationship anew.

How to find these documentaries:

I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again: FMTV. It’s a movie subscription service totally focused on health and wellness both spiritually and physically as well as for the planet. I value it more than Netflix. If you want to get spiritually inspired, improve your health, work on meditation or yoga practices, learn some new healthy recipes; or if you care about the environment and social issues then go to FMTV and sign up. You can start with the free 10 day trial, but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s well worth the $7.95 a month.
