Love Conquers All with Faith, Compassion and Effort

True Parents

“All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired.” – Martin Luther

“God has already done everything He’s going to do. The ball is now in your court. If you want success, if you want wisdom, if you want to be prosperous and healthy, you’re going to have to do more than meditate and believe; you must boldly declare words of faith and victory over yourself and your family.” – Joel Osteen

“Faith is an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking.” – Khalil Gibran

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.” – J. R. R. Tolkien

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” – Yoda

“With our love we could save the world.” – George Harrison

“Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.” – Leo Buscaglia

Living in the New Era

jesus-foot-washing019“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” – Jesus Christ

“A new era has begun. It is not an era in which we will achieve our ideal through religion, but rather through the quality of our practical lives….We have to restore the nation centered on women.” – Sun Myung Moon, 1999

You may have heard the saying, “Love conquers all.” What does it mean and where does it come from? It’s a nice idea but is it true?

Yield We Too To Love

The saying comes from the poet Virgil, around 70 BC to 19 BC. “Love conquers all things; yield we too to love!” – this is line 69 of Eclogue X. That was a long time ago and since then these words have been embraced by many forms of art: painting, theatre, music and popular culture. We are captivated by such a concept, it rings true in our hearts, not our heads. So we have repeated the phrase for thousands of years, willing our minds to continue to believe.

But belief is not enough; only when we live in a loving way can “love conquer all”. Because love is not a concept, belief or philosophy, it is at it’s root the cycle of giving and receiving. Love is a verb, an action word. The action is a cycle of giving and receiving based on a common heart. “The beginning point of love is unity” – another quote of Rev. Moon’s.

In practical terms then, we want to create a life through which love can take form in all we do. It’s not easy because there are many historical patterns of fear, anger, resentment and self-centeredness to overcome. Our needs and our baggage get in the way. Who can rise above the struggle to conquer all with love?

True Parental Heart

A parent longs for their children’s happiness. A true parental heart wishes all good things for their children; peace, love, joy, wisdom and freedom to fulfill their true potential. A good parent even suffers, enduring much hardship to ensure the prosperity of their children’s future.

The world has endured for a long time by the rule of men who seek justice and vindication through judgment and retaliation. Perhaps some degree of that is necessary but it is out of balance. It is time for the revealing of the true mother’s heart who compassionately works to heal and repair the damage. Love conquers all if we work at it.
