What’s Your Story?

your story

Is it a love story, an epic adventure, or a radical world changing quest? Or are you just hanging out, waiting for life to happen? Everyday your story is etched in the annals of time. Are you the author, or are you waiting for someone else to do the writing?

God created a masterpiece of which this world, you and I are part of. But the uniqueness of God’s creation is that He gave us co-creatorship. He/She made us to be like Himself/Herself – creators within the time and space that we exist.

Your Own Creative Genius

You have been given skills, tools, materials and a work area. Your family heritage, the time period and place in which you were born, and planet Earth. Never before and never again will these exact conditions exist. Your life is unique and you are free to do our best work.

You may have a disability or a weakness. Use it to add drama and greatness to your life. You may be poor or rich, educated or not, it doesn’t matter in the end. What matters is what you create with what you’ve got. Believe it or not, God has endowed you with the genius to make something great of your life.

Fame is Not Greatness

pexels-photo-107900-largeAll the famous authors, playwrights, artists and musicians were people just like you and I. Maybe some were born with a unique talent and maybe some just worked really hard at learning a skill. Either way, fame is not the indicator of a great life. Whether you touch the heart of 5 people or 100,000, it matters.

Talent alone also does not ensure success. There are many talented people who are not successful because they don’t have the character or vision to focus their talent in a productive way. At the same time, people who have less natural talent can achieve amazing things because they are driven by inner resources like determination and a positive attitude.

It’s Never Too Late!

Literature is filled with stories of people who wrestle with incredible difficulties. That’s what captures our interest: the challenge, suspense, and anguish stir our emotions. We feel inspired by the person who never gives up and becomes the victor in the end.

So regardless of whether you are young or old, just starting out or have trod a long and treacherous path, your life is a unique part of the universe. Your struggles and accomplishments are encoded on the DNA of future generations. Even your dying breath can have an impact on others and create a ripple effect of change.

story, movieI am reminded of the movie Blood Diamond (2006) with Leonardo DiCaprio who plays the role of a jaded gunrunner and smuggler. Although his actions and motives are conflicted throughout the story, his imminent death brings his conscience into focus. He uses his last bit of energy to help a man and his family escape, and to expose the evils of the diamond trade. One of my favorite movies.

In the end, what becomes of your life is up to you. If you decide that your life has no meaning or value, that’s only true because you wrote that script. That is the beauty of this opportunity, you create greatness with your mind and heart.

Your life is not unknown to God; it’s an expansion of God’s genius.
