Was Jesus’ Crucifixion Inevitable?

Jesus

Following the life of Jesus in the Bible we learn some astonishing things. He was a very controversial figure, saying and doing things that upset the religious leaders of that time. He was a rebel.

If we read the Bible without any theological prejudice, a new story emerges.

The Mission of the Messiah

In this next session of Lasting Imprint, Phillip Schanker guides us in understanding the life and mission of Jesus. He also examines the roles of God’s will and human responsibility from a Biblical perspective. Finally, we are left with the question, What would life be like today if different choices were made in the past?

This brings us to another question. What can we do today to create a better future? The Divine Principle outlines a path to the fulfillment of God’s ideal, or the kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Jesus taught the way, living and dying for the sake of others. During his lifetime he was not understood, and he was rejected – an event that altered the course of history.

Human Responsibility

Why do you think it was so hard for people to accept Jesus as the long awaited Messiah? Jesus spoke to many crowds, and he did have some faithful followers as well as disciples. What went wrong?

If there were to be a second coming of Christ, what would he have to face or do? Would he find faith on Earth? Would you believe and follow?

“This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom He hath sent” – John 6:28-29

“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.” – Matthew 6:10
