We are happy to announce that the 3rd Annual Pathways to a Sustainable Future Project will take place in Paraguay on June 24 – July 11, 2017. This program offers unique opportunities to encounter life in the extraordinarily beautiful Pantanal wilderness as well as share and serve in an indigenous community.
Summer of Service and Cultural Sharing
This Summer’s project includes activities in Asuncion, Paraguay’s capital city but most of the program will take place in Leda and the
community of Bahia Negra in the expansive though sparsely settled region of the Chaco. Community based service programs, cultural sharing and deep insights into the Founder’s vision are part of this experience.
The Leda Settlement was established in 1999 by the Founders, Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon together with a team of Japanese volunteers and covers a land area larger than Tokyo. The pioneers in Leda have striven to make the eradication of hunger one the settlements primary goals and their continuous efforts have resulted in the development of cutting-edge advances in both aquaculture and agriculture.
Fishing, Hiking and Horseback Riding
Leda’s natural environment presents many opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and horseback riding, as well as quiet time to watch a wide variety of birds and breathtaking sunsets over the Paraguay River. For a better understanding of the project and to apply please look at our website: www.ledaproject.com.
Participants are responsible for their international travel and a $ 950 project fee. Often participants work with their local church community in soliciting monetary support to help cover a part of the expenses.
Sincerely,
Rev. John W. Gehring, International Project Director
