New Year – Old Traditions

Why do we celebrate the New Year?Fireworks

Something in the human conscience wants to celebrate the passing of an old era, and the beginning of a new chance. We believe in new starts, beginning again, getting another chance to do something right, or better than before. Year after year we make goals, resolutions, in good faith that we will try again. Growth, creativity and progress are inherently part of human nature, so much so that we make a tradition of celebrating all new beginnings.

“Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.”
Helen Keller

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Let our New Year’s resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word.”
Goran Persson

“Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.”
Jonathan Edwards

“Character is the ability to carry out a good resolution long after the excitement of the moment has passed.”
Cavett Robert
